What is Akashic Record?

What is actually Akashic record? Akasa in Sanskrit or angkasa in Bahasa Indonesia means sky. So we can say literally it means a record in the “sky”.

Akashic record is basically a record of our soul journey through different lifetimes. Not just about the past though. The records can also reveal our future potential, the possibilities, depends on what kind of energy that we sent at present.

The Soul Journey Through Life Times

Many people, including me, know that our souls have multiple lives. Not all of us believe in reincarnation, and this “knowing feeling” is something that one cannot teach or force to the other. In my case, I have a lot of moments where it is unexplainable how I can connect to a place or to someone as if I have been there before, or as if I knew them before.

So assuming that we all agree on multiple lifetimes, now we dig deeper on what souls record during those lifetimes. In each of its lives, the soul strive to grow and learn. In the end of its life, we  – as the soul, our higher Self – will decide on the next “adventure” to have in the next life.

The Connection Between Life Times

Although they seems to be separated, these lives are connected. We carry a bit of each lessons, traumas, joys with us to the next life. Sometimes, we feel stuck in a particular aspect of life and we don’t know why. This is when our knowledge of Akashic record can be useful for our present – and bringing full possibilities to our future.  Using the record, we can look back and clear up the repeated unwanted energy.

Remember that all of the less favourable events, are not punishments from the Heaven. These events are merely lessons that our souls want to go through to be able to grow. If we able to learn the lesson before the big event needs to happen, we can change the future and avoid those challenging events.

Energy; Tips on how to keep it light.

Good energy? What is it?

We are not going to complicate the concept of energy in this article. Good and bad energy are as simple as how we feel. Good energy is what makes us feel good such as happiness, excitement, contentment, hopeful and so on. It feels light. Bad energy is what makes us feel uncomfortable, such as sadness, anger, disappointment, shame, worthlessness and so on. It feels heavy. We want to keep the light, because it keeps us filled with love. With love, it easier to be on higher vibration, closer to the bliss that yoga meant to be.

Isn’t it normal?

Yes, having alternate good or bad is normal for human beings like us. During our lifetime, we would encounter some challenges which might bring some heavy feelings. However, it is preferable that we stay light, and spread the light. But we cannot do this by pushing the heavy feelings down. Instead, we should acknowledge it, accept it, and then – the challenge is – to let it go.

So these feelings can come from ourselves, but it also comes from the outside. Think of a moment when we are in a room full of sad people. Or in a demonstration full of angry people. We might feel something heavy. Because feelings  – can affect many many other people.

How to deal with our feelings and others

We are not trying to push down any uncomfortable feelings. So the first thing to do is that we accept them. Because by accepting, this feeling usually becomes detached and we can let it go.

Once the feeling is gone, we can imagine a pink light surrounds us. Imagine this light comes deep into your heart and gives love. Only love. No other feeling.

When the attack comes from outside. We can still use this concept.  Imagine the pink light protects us from any negative feelings that others are experiencing. Then slowly emanates the pink light towards ourself. Imagine it fills us with love. After that, slowly imagine the pink light also emanates love to people surrounds you. See than the light starts to fill and surrounds everyone, changing the darkness into light.

If the event is tremendous, we might feel lingering negative energy days afterwards. Remember to change clothes after a visit to hospital, prison, funerals, house or office with conflicts or any gathering where anger or sadness might be in the air. I’d go as far as washing my hair too.

After days, if it persists, jump into the ocean. That never fails to clear up energy. Don’t fear the bad feelings. Spread the love.



Our Dance in Death and Birth

Death – and birth, being born and dying, are the mysteries of life.

But no matter how we try to capture the mysteries of death and birth, there is always something that we miss to understand. Of course, it is too complex to understand for our mind, and our Truth knows that there are no coincidence in life.


I have just lost two of my friends because they died in a silly road accident in this country. I said silly, because it is just so unlikely. The event is just so out of the ordinary. It is like the Universe conspire to take them out of this life this way.

They are my supporters in my current difficult moment, and they have been trying to help in a way they can. So this weekend, one day I spent time with (one of) them, and the next day,  puff, gone. The mystery of death and birth doesn’t stop there. We have our own path. Our mind cannot explain the coincidence of the chains of events, how if one thing would be different, it might have change the whole picture. How us – human beings – connect and meet one another is some normal situation, which in the end proven to be crucial to the next life events.

The Universe and its inhabitants are as ephemeral as the clouds in the sky;

Beings being borns and dying are like a spectacular dance or drama show.

The duration of our lives is like a flash of lightning or a firefly’s brief twinkle;

Everything passes like the flowing waters of a steep waterfall.

The Universe is under no obligation to make sense to us. 

said the scientist Neil deGrasse Tysson.  So I told my mind to stop trying to understand, and turn into my Self to feel all universal connection. We are just dancing. Just dancing in this universe, facing birth and death and being home in between. My two friends are just doing their dance. For the rest of us, be strong.


The True Meaning of Being Fearless in Life

Recently I was interviewed by Joshua Kangley’s book 7 Principles of Success.

And how amazing it is, to realise that we both are coming from different background and living different lives and in different continent – yet, we talk about exactly the same thing: Life Purpose.  This is a topic that is interesting to anyone walking the spiritual path. No, let me rephrase it; Finding our Life Purpose is a topic that is interesting for anyone who have a lot of curiosity about their meaning of life, about what the purpose of this life is.

Whether or not we agreed on what yoga means to each of us, we are creature of curiosity. We ask questions. Then we demand answer of why we are here on this life. Looking for this answer, we travel across oceans and rivers and climbing mountains to find the answer. Screaming to the world, what is my life purpose? Almost in irony, we actually find this big life answer inside us.

Why it is difficult for us to see our Life Purpose

Deep inside, we have fear.  Yes, that’s it. We are full of fear to see and live the truth.  What we presume as success in life can be quite different than what the Universe assigns us. The success of our life is not being a billionaire, a perfectly form woman,  a super mother or any other roles.

It scares us to see that in order to follow our path, we need to be out of the box. Fear floods us with what if stories. What would my peer thinks? What would my big family say? How would I sustain my life?

Our souls are not giving it up when we steer away from our path. It jolts, and complains. Our intuitions tell us, scream at us. Under the shadow of fears, we ignore all these signals. Until it is too late.

And we are wondering why there is an empty space. How come life feels so dull. How come our heart is not bubbly with happiness. Then to make it worse, we start to look around and compare ourselves with others. How come that person seems happier? Maybe if I lose that amount of weight, I will be happier. Maybe if I earn as much as that person, I will be happier. And on and on, we are stuck in the darkness and feel lost in life.

Get Back on Your Designated Life Purpose Track

How? Throw your fear away, and walk your destiny.  What others do, does not matter! It is each of us, on our own path that matters. Be brave. Sadly, we will encounter individuals who try to dim our light to our path.

I have a personal experience that I don’t mind to share here to explain fearless concept. In the past months, I trusted a person who tried to put me down in a way it is incredible. So, I used to love writings and I know it is something that I do quite well – although still learning. Furthermore, I had a lot of fantastic opportunities with my words, from blogs to articles in local paper. But she managed to dim my light to writings with her comments, convinced me that I don’t belong in the ocean. This person managed to dim my whole soul. I wiggled free from this trusty person, and it took a lot of courage.

Freedom from fear now.

Best of it, I have no negative feelings towards the person, because in the end you can’t control what others do to you, you can only control your reaction. I am writing on the ocean side at this moment, feeling happiness in my veins. We need to be brave enough to evaluate people in  our lives, and brave enough to wiggle free if they pull you into a wrong direction. Trust, there are a lot of people out there full of – you know what – because they are afraid themselves. But remember to halt any negative feelings towards those who try to dim our light. Spread your lights.

Meanwhile, I am back on track, although I have to spend some extra miles in bumpy road due to my detour. How do we know we are on the right track? Oh we know! Our souls tell us, smile to us. Despite anything that happen, our soul will be happy. We walk the right path. We learn the lessons that we assigned to learn in our life charts – which is our plan for this lifetime. We’ll talk about life chart another time.  What’s important now is to close our eyes. Ask our souls bravely: Are we lost, or are we on track.


Yoga, what is it?

The moment of contemplation..

started this morning with my coffee. I read a thread about a girl who asked what is a yogi. Apparently someone has told her that she is not a real yogi. I was intrigued by the question. What is a yogi? Because a yogi is typically a nickname for someone who practice yoga, to answer this question, we need to know what is yoga.

What is yoga to you?

In the Instagram world, it seems like a yogi is those who has thousands of followers and posts amazing circus-like poses each day. Some of them will make a monthly competition for their followers to win. Furthermore, most of the people in this group are wearing fancy pants, some poses in bikinis and those who poses sexy yoga in bedroom gets lots of likes. This group calls it yoga. On the other hands, I noticed a few people who strongly say that this is not yoga. Because yoga is a spiritual practice, the people in this group believes that you have to be spiritual. Consequently, it is a constant discussion – to put the arguments lightly.

The term yoga originally comes from yuj which means to yoke, to connect. It is connecting out true Self with the Divine. So yes, it is a spiritual practice. But how can we judge each other of who are really connecting and through what means? As Gandhi said, we don’t even know what our karma is, let alone judging others’? How can we say those who do Downward Facing Dog is not a true yogi? How can we say those who are sitting down are better yogi? What is the device to measure “connectedness”?

But, if we cannot ever be sure if someone is doing yoga or not, how could we ever be sure how to judge if someone is a real yogi or not?

So I think the real answer is: “It is not your business to judge others’ connection to the Divine”.

It is just between you and the Divine. You are where you’re at. If it is through your body that you connect to the divine, so be it. Remember that we each have our own path that we have to pursue fearlessly. If you are sitting in meditation, then be it. If you take one big breath and dive deep into the ocean just with one breath – yep -, then be it. That’s YOUR yoga. It is important to steer away from judgement. It is not your business what others are doing with their soul connection, and it is not others’ business of how connected you are. You are not better or worse than others in front of the Divine.

So yes. I am a yogi. You are a yogi. The guy who helps dogs but never done a western yoga class is a yogi too. We are all walking on our path to that “oneness”. We try to find the path and do what our soul is meant to do. Our journey is different although we brush and crash into this life together. Judgement screws up our journey and feed our ego.

Hence, next time someone ask you the question. Just smile. 🙂






Friday Night Yogi Survival Tips

Hiya my Friday night owls yogis,

Yogi should not go out in Friday night? Really? I’m a truly believer that we are here on our own purpose, walking our own path.  Because most of us live in modern world,  not in stereotyped yogi lifestyle living in a cave, we have to find a way to live our path truthfully – even in the madness of modern lifestyle. I don’t call it balance, because balance means you do something plus and then something minus and balance the both. What I mean, is tip-toeing through your social life as authentic as you can.

Solitary or Social are both okay

If you come to my retreats on Fridays, most likely after arriving on the destination and doing some ocean play and asana, you’ll be tired in the evening and go to sleep early! If you work and come home and you meditate all night, congratulations. But if you have some social responsibilities – meeting friends, colleagues, or family, that is also okay.  No judgement here.

I personally do not go out that often, I really enjoy sitting in with my books. Yes, and do some works on meditation, asana, all these stuff.  There are nights though which is typically on Friday night –  that I go out with my friends and do some social activities. This will involve music, dancing, drinks, dinner, and a lot of chit chat with people. All these things that does not really correlate with yogic life style. Or is it? Can you maintain your true identity while going out? Yes, you can, and let’s talk about it.

Surviving Friday Night Tips.

First thing first.

The energy that we meet. Usually there are a lot of people in Friday night scenes. So there will be various kinds of energy – and these are not always awesome. To protect you from all of these energy madness, do a short meditation before you go. Ground yourself. Sit up tall. If you sit on a chair, make sure both feet are on the ground. Imagine you have deep root growing down into the earth. Then surround yourself with white white, this is your cocoon.

During the night, if we feel energetically attacked – any kind of negative feelings: fear, worries, angry – remember your cocoon and protect yourself in it again.

Then the drinks.

As a dive instructor, I often joke that I know how to drink and not get drunk. I actually do! The secret? No alcohol. Ha. Drinks are the first thing we have to control, because the higher the amount of alcohol in our body, the less sensitive we are to the energy surrounding us. Thus we might be late to put us back in the cocoon. I usually simply take soda water, putting some lemon slices in it, most people would think you are having vodka. 😉

The dinner.

Truly, there are always options. Whatever your diet is, do not go crazy on Friday night dinner, or you’ll crash to bed feeling like puffed up potato.  When I know there won’t be any meal option that I can take, I often have my pre Friday night dinner first. But honestly, there are options. From salad, to plain rice, to chopped carrots!

Finally, we are going to enter the most difficult one.

The people we meet. In many occasions I always manage to find someone who always talk about someone else. Hence, it is called gossiping. The energy can feel sharp and pierce. This can linger for hours and attacking your aura. I can tell one thing. Step back and assess the situation. Sometimes we need to direct the conversation somewhere else, sometimes we need to tell the person to talk about something else. So this is really really important because by reminding others about the core of our Beings are one, the night would pass peacefully without any harms to other souls.

Then listen to your intuition, go home when it says so even if it’s early. Drink a lot of water when we get home. Do some cleansing meditation. Dust off all these people’s energy from our aura. Then go to sleep.

In common sense, people talk about the past, the present and the future as a linear time line.

I have always been fascinated by the idea, that it might not be as linear as we thought it is. I remember I watch the series Quantum Leap with much excitement in the 80s. Imagine if indeed, it is not linear. How much freedom we actually have? There is no past nor future to worry about, there is just now!

At that age, I did not realize that that very concept is what people are talking about years later. Be in the Now, be in the Now! But what is it with the Present? Aren’t we paying what we did, now? Isn’t that what karma is? We are where we’re at today, because of what we did previously, or in the past life?

Aren’t we here attached on our karma?

After much thoughts, I grasped the concept of karma in a way that might be different than how most people see it. Karma is indeed the law of cause and effect. It is common that people would say: “Karma will get you!”, when they are not happy with what someone did. What people misunderstood is, it is not about punishment or reward.

It is about creation.

Therefore, karma is an active action, you can’t just sit back and hope all the good karma will come to you. By doing something amazing now, we create amazing future.  Suddenly our life is back on our hands. We can’t play victim anymore in our life by saying, “It’s just my karma”. No. We are in charge of our life.  If we are fearless now in pursuing what our soul supposed to do, we are going to be in our right path, and life is just a happy moment.

Now, let’s dig it deeper.

We can change our life, now. How?

What about this: what we do now, will change our past? Not possible? Think again. Imagine yourself, in the “past” that you are crying about. Then change your perception of that situation. Let go off any negative thoughts. Fill that memory with positive thoughts, no matter how difficult it is. There is no mistake in life, you know. Everything that happens is an experience that is needed by our soul. It was a lesson. No regrets. No mistake. If we are fearless now in accepting who we are, where we are; Life is again – a happy moment.

Moving Forward…

No one ever promise that being mindful is easy. But the only reason it is difficult, is because we complicate ourselves with all that the ego wants, and those needs are not necessary. Truly, we only need this time. We need to fulfil this time to create beautiful life, to experience life fully.  Right here, right now.

So, the present is all we have, darling. Let’s stay here. There is no need to wait, because we can be alive now. Today, do what puts your soul on fire.
